SkillPanel helps employees map, understand, and grow their skills. The onboarding process guides you from your first login to setting up your skill profile and learning plan.

### When to Use This

- You’ve received your SkillPanel invitation email.
- You’re completing your first login and skill mapping.
- You want to understand how your skills connect to your current role.
- You’re preparing for career development or performance discussions.

### Prerequisites

- An active **SkillPanel invitation** from your manager.
- Access to your company email.
- A few minutes to complete your initial skill assessment.

### Quick Start

1. Open the invitation email and click **Map Your Skills**.
2. Set your password and log in.
3. Confirm or select your **Current Job Position**.
4. Assess all required **Core Skills** using the 5-level scale.
5. Add any **Additional Skills** that apply to you.
6. Click **Finish** to view your personalized Skill Map and profile.

### Detailed Steps

#### 1. Accept Your Invitation

- Open your onboarding email and click **Map Your Skills**.
- You’ll be redirected to the SkillPanel login page.
- Create your password and log in for the first time.

#### 2. Confirm Your Details

- Fill in your **Name** and confirm your **Current Job Position**.
- If your position isn’t prefilled, select it from the dropdown list.
- Click **Next Step** to continue.

#### 3. Assess Your Core Skills

You’ll see a list of skills linked to your role. Rate each one using the following 5-level scale:

| Level | Description |
| --- | --- |
| **Clean Slate** | No competency in this area. |
| **Basic** | Can complete tasks under full supervision. |
| **Intermediate** | Works independently on standard tasks; needs guidance for complex cases. |
| **Advanced** | Handles all tasks without supervision, including non-standard cases. |
| **Expert** | Mentors others, defines new standards, and grows expertise across the team. |

Note: Remember to assess all core skills. If you omit any, you will be notified. Only after all core skills ratings will you be able to proceed with the rest of the onboarding process. Once you have assessed all the skills your employer has given you, go to the next step and add the skills that you have and were not mentioned earlier. Click the blue button “Add skills” to proceed.

#### 4. Add Your Own Skills

- After completing required skills, click **Add Skills**.
- Browse folders of skill groups and select additional skills you possess.
- When finished, click **Finish** to complete onboarding.

#### 5. Explore Your Skill Map

- Once onboarding ends, you’ll see your **Skill Map** — a visual overview of all your rated skills.
- You can zoom, drag, and click each skill to view details like definitions and proficiency levels.

#### 6. Review Your Profile

- In the **Profile** tab, view your name, job position, and skill summary.
- You can:
  - Mark your **most important skills**.
  - Add **language proficiencies**.
  - Reassess your skills later to track growth.

#### 7. Plan Your Growth

- The **Talent Path** tab shows next-step roles and what skills you need to reach them.
- It highlights your readiness and gaps for promotion or lateral moves.

#### 8. Learn and Develop

- Open the **Learning Hub** to find training materials added by your manager.
- You can also upload your own learning resources or bookmark useful materials.

**Example 1:**  
You join as a Product Analyst. After onboarding, you see gaps in “SQL” and “Stakeholder Communication.” The **Talent Path** tab suggests completing those before progressing to “Senior Analyst.”

**Example 2:**  
You reassess your skills six months later. The **Profile** tab updates your proficiency levels, showing measurable growth toward your next role.

### Pitfalls & Tradeoffs

- Don’t skip core skills, as onboarding won’t complete without them.
- Avoid under- or overrating your skills; the data drives real development plans.
- If you forget your password, reset it from the login page before reattempting onboarding.
