See every job position, its required skills, and how those skills overlap across roles. The Job Position Matrix gives managers a complete map of organizational capability.

---

## Why

It turns scattered role definitions into one transparent structure. You can instantly check which skills drive each position, how they relate, and where duplication or gaps appear.

---

## When to Use This

- During role standardization or restructuring.
- Before launching a new hiring plan or promotion path.
- When checking skill coverage for compliance or certification mapping.
- To align job requirements with learning and development programs.

---

## Prerequisites

- Access to **Analytics → Job Position Matrix**.
- Job positions and skillsets already created under **Talent Framework**.

---

## Quick Start

1. Go to **Analytics → Job Position Matrix**.
2. Use the **Quick filter** to find a job position or skill by name.
3. Expand any job position to see its assigned skills and required mastery levels.
4. Toggle **Group by skillsets** to view role structure by skillset instead of by individual skills.
5. Use the **Columns** and **Filters** panel on the right to show or hide data points like:
  - Required Mastery
  - Skill Area / Subarea / Group
  - Feeders (roles feeding into this one)
  - Is Core / Additional skill
6. (Optional) Enable **Pivot Mode** to rearrange how data is grouped for custom comparisons.

---

## Detailed Steps

### 1. Explore Job Positions and Skills

Each job position expands to show its related skillsets and the skills within them.
**Why this matters:** lets you verify skill coverage and consistency without digging through separate configurations.

### 2. Check Skill Overlaps and Redundancy

Enable **Group by skillsets**. This may show duplicated skills if a skill appears in multiple sets.
**Why this matters:** duplication reveals where multiple paths depend on the same capability. This is useful for unifying similar roles.

### 3. Verify Required Levels and Core Status

Look at the **Required Mastery** and **Is Core** columns.
**Why this matters:** helps managers spot roles overloaded with core skills or missing clear priorities.

### 4. Find Which Roles Need a Specific Skill

Use the **Quick filter** to type any skill name.
**Why this matters:** instantly lists every job that depends on that skill, which is ideal for planning upskilling or internal mobility.

**Example 2:**
You open *Architect Backend Developer* → see 94 assigned skills across multiple skillsets.
→ Action: reduce redundancy by merging duplicate *Software Design Fundamentals* entries.

## FAQ

**Q:** What does “Feeders” mean?
**A:** Roles “feed” skills into the selected position.

**Q:** Why do some skills repeat under multiple skillsets?
**A:** The “Group by skillsets” mode intentionally shows duplicates to expose overlaps.

**Q:** Can I edit skills or mastery directly here?
**A:** No, edits must be made in **Talent Framework → Job Positions**.

## Pitfalls & Tradeoffs

- Don’t rely on mastery counts alone, volume doesn’t equal importance.
- Large roles may show duplicated skills; use this as cleanup input, not error reporting.
- Pivot mode can obscure smaller details, so use it for summaries, not audits.
