Career paths in SkillPanel (formerly TalentBoost) define structured growth routes within your organization — showing employees how they can progress, upskill, or transition into new roles over time.

---

### When to Use This

- You want to give employees a clear view of promotion opportunities.
- You’re designing transparent internal mobility or development programs.
- You’re mapping how skill growth connects to higher or lateral positions.
- You’re standardizing progression across teams or departments.

---

### Prerequisites

- Admin to **SkillPanel**.
- Defined **Job Positions** and related **Skillsets** in the system.
- Clarity on your organization’s development structure or promotion policy.

---

### Quick Start

1. Go to **Talent Framework → Career Paths** in the left panel.
2. Click **Create** (top-right corner).
3. Enter a **Name** and **Description** for the path.
4. Add **Job Positions** that form each step in the path.
5. Click **Save** to confirm and publish the new career path.

---

### Detailed Steps

#### 1. Add a New Career Path

- Navigate to **Talent Framework → Career Paths**.
- Click the **Create** button (top-right corner).
- In the pop-up window:
  - **Name** your path (e.g., *Java Engineer*).
  - Add a **Description** to explain its purpose or criteria.
  - Select **Job Positions** that define the progression order.
- Click **Save** when finished.

*Why this matters:* A clear structure helps employees understand how their current role connects to the next one, which will help with reducing turnover and boosting motivation.

### FAQ

**Q:** Can I have multiple paths for one position?
**A:** Yes. A position can appear in more than one path (e.g., *Project Manager* may appear in both *Operations* and *Product* paths). A person with the Project Manager position will see both paths in their **My Career **page.

**Q:** Can employees view these paths?
**A:** Yes. Employees see their personalized version in the **My Career** tab.

**Q:** Who can create or edit paths?
**A:** Only users with admin permissions.

**Q:** Does editing a path change existing employee data?
**A:** No. Edits update structure visibility but don’t alter stored skill records.
