Find the right people fast. Filtering narrows a long employee list into a working set you can act on in SkillPanel.

## When to Use This

- You need a shortlist for a project or backfill.
- You’re preparing reviews and want only employees with recent ratings.
- You’re mapping a team’s skill gaps before planning learning.
- You’re checking bench status or recent supervisor activity.
- You’re verifying who actually has a given skill at a given level.

## Prerequisites

- Access to **People → Employees**.
- Permission to view employee profiles and ratings.
- Optional: a list of target skills or roles.

## Quick Start

1. Go to **People → Employees**, then click **Show Filters**. → A filter panel opens on the right.
2. Pick one or more filters (for example, **Team = Backend**, **Skilled In = Python**). → The panel shows your selections.
3. Click **Apply**. → The table refreshes with matching employees.
4. Need to start over? Click **Clear Filters**. → All results return.

## Detailed Steps

1. Open **People → Employees**.
*Why this matters:* All filtering happens on the Employees list; changes are immediate and exportable.
2. Click **Show Filters** (top right of the list).
*Why this matters:* The side panel exposes precise controls beyond the search bar.

- Choose filters. You can combine many. Common options include:
  - **Team**, **Team Supervisor**, **Direct Supervisor**
  - **Job Position**
  - **Invitation Date Range**
  - **Bench**
  - **Project Changer**
  - **Skill Ratings Scope** (e.g., Assigned Skillsets vs. All)
  - **Self-Rating Status** and **Date of Last Self-Rating**
  - **Supervisor Rating Status**
  - **Expert Rating Status**
  - **Peer Rating Status**
  - **Supervisor Rating Activity Date**
  - **Skilled In** (pick specific skills; add multiple)
*Why this matters:* Combining role + skill + rating recency gives a cleaner, decision-ready list.
- Click **Apply** to filter the table.
*Why this matters:* The table shows only employees who meet all chosen conditions.
- Adjust or remove filters as needed. Use **×** on a chip or **Clear Filters** to reset.
*Why this matters:* Iterating helps balance precision (fewer but stronger matches) with coverage.

## Examples

- **Scenario: Spin Up a Data Task Force**
Inputs: Team = Data; Skilled In = SQL, Python; Supervisor Rating Status = Rated; Activity Date = Last 90 Days.
Outcome: A small list of data analysts with recently verified skills.
- **Scenario: Find Bench Talent for an Urgent QA Project**
Inputs: Bench = Yes; Job Position = QA Engineer; Skilled In = Cypress.
Outcome: Only available QA engineers who can start immediately and have the needed skills.

## Pitfalls & Tradeoffs

- Don’t stack too many narrow filters (e.g., 3 skills + strict dates + specific supervisor); you may hide viable people.
- Rating recency filters improve signal but can exclude strong employees who haven’t been rated recently. Decide if freshness or coverage is more important.
- Skill scope matters: “Assigned Skillsets” aligns to the role; “All” may pull unrelated, legacy skills. Choose deliberately.
