SkillCheck measures what you can actually do, not what you claim. Each test connects directly to a skill on your SkillPanel profile and updates your score automatically.

## When to Use This

- You want proof of ability for a key skill.
- You’re preparing for promotion or internal mobility.
- You need to verify progress after training.
- Your manager requests a verified assessment instead of a self-rating.

## Prerequisites

- Access to **SkillPanel** with visible skill scores.
- A skill that supports **SkillCheck** (shown by the *Test* button).
- Optional: recent self-assessment to compare against the calibrated score.

## Quick Start

1. From **Skills Map** or **My Profile**, find the skill you want to test.
2. Click **Test** (on the right panel or under the skill card). → You’ll be invited to the SkillCheck assessment.
3. Complete the test. Most are automatically scored.
4. When finished, see your **SkillCheck** score appear next to the skill.

## Detailed Steps

### Option 1: From Skills Map

1. Go to **Skills Map** in the left menu.
2. Search for the skill you’d like to verify.
3. If the skill has a linked SkillCheck test, a **Test** button appears beside your current score.
4. Click **Test** to launch the exam.  
*Why this matters:* Tests linked from the map stay tied to the exact skill definition in your organization’s graph, so results are directly comparable.

**Option 2: From Your Profile**

1. Open **My Profile** → **Skills** tab.
2. Click **Evaluate Skills**.
3. Select one or more skills that you want to test with SkillCheck.
4. Click **Evaluate My Skills** to confirm.  
*Why this matters:* This route lets you batch multiple tests at once instead of launching them one by one.

### After Completing the Test

- Your **SkillCheck Score** updates automatically on that skill (usually within minutes).
- **Automatic reviews** ensure consistency and remove human bias.

## Examples

- **Scenario: Validate Java Fundamentals**  
You see “Java Fundamentals” on your Skills Map. A **Test** button appears. You take the test, score 80%, and your SkillCheck bar fills to match that result.
- **Scenario: Batch Evaluate Multiple Skills**  
You go to **My Profile → Evaluate Skills**, select *React Hooks*, *HTML Semantic Tags*, and *PySpark*, then click **Evaluate My Skills**. A **SkillCheck **assessment opens in another tab with tasks related to your selected skills.

## FAQ

**Q: I don’t see a Test button. Why?**  
A: Not every skill has a SkillCheck configured.

**Q: How fast will my score update?**  
A: Instantly for auto-reviewed tasks.

**Q: Can I retake a test?**  
A: Only if your organization allows re-assessment. Check your Talent Framework rules.

**Q: Who can see my SkillCheck score?**  
A: This is dependent on your organization’s settings.

## Pitfalls & Tradeoffs

- Don’t start tests casually, unfinished SkillChecks can count as failed attempts.
- Over-testing the same skill can inflate activity metrics without improving accuracy. Wait until you’ve learned or practiced before retaking.
